What Are Fats?

They are used in the anatomy of the body of vertebrates, they protect organs and they play a role in hormones and in the immune system. Despite their importance, fats are poorly assimilated into the human diet.

Fats are composed of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, which makes them lipid (lipid=fat). They are monounsaturated, polyunsaturated, and saturated.

Fat is an oily substance found on the animal’s body, under the skin, or around organs. Fat is more energetic and is suitable for weight gain. Ideally, fat comes from animals.

They are mainly composed of saturated fatty acids. Therefore, they are solid at room temperature. In animals, fat cells are special cells that store fat in the body.

Some of the fat is also found in the liver. Saturated fats and trans fats are two types of fats. Dairy products such as cheese, butter, cream, high-fat milk, and meat contain saturated fat.

  • They are stored in adipocytes, which are special animal cells, and the oil is stored in vegetable fat granules.
  • Fat has high oxidative rancidity, and oil has low oxidative rancidity.
  • Butter, meat, and cream are examples of fats, but olive oil, coconut oil, and almond oil are examples of oils.
  • Fat increases the risk of cardiovascular disease and oil reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease.


Both are just types of fats, but fats are not considered healthy as some fats are not healthy for our health. Unsaturated fats have negative effects because you get a bad fat shell. Oils like olive oil are considered good for health.
